Testy Cranberry Apple Sauce With Marsala Recipe

Look no further for a variation to the same old cranberry sauce on your Thanksgiving dinner! This Cranberry Apple Sauce with Marsala combines your favorite flavors and more!  

INGREDIENTS

– 1 heaping cup finely chopped apple – 1 cup dry or sweet marsala wine – 1 cup sugar – Juice and zest from 1 large orange (about 2-3 Tbsp zest and ½ cup (4 fl oz) juice – 1 pound cranberries, rinsed

Get all of the items together and prepare them according to the instructions above.

To make the sauce, put the apples, marsala wine, sugar, and orange juice in a medium pot and heat it over medium-low. Slowly cook for two to three minutes, until the sugar is gone and the alcohol taste is gone.

Then add the cranberries and stir them in. Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat right away to a simmer.  

STEP-4

It will take about one to two minutes for the cranberries to start to pop. Use a fork or potato masher to start smashing them until you get the texture you want.   

STEP-5

Keep cooking for a few more minutes, for a total of 7 to 8 minutes. More time will make the sauce smoother, less time will make it chunkier.  

STEP-6

Take the pan off the heat, add the orange zest, and let it cool. Before you serve, let the cranberry sauce cool down to room temperature. Enjoy your meal!
